Demolish the existing scout hut then construct a new bespoke timber frame building built off traditional foundations block and beam floor system. The outside walls are clad with Therma board and the windows and doors are aluminium powder coated to give a very modern appearance. The roof has a metal sheet profile system fixed to timber rafters. Internal walls and ceilings clad with fair faced fire proof ply to give a robust finish to suite usage.

Haileybury College – Hertford Heath – Summer 2012

 

Over the last 2 years 9 different projects have been successfully completed at the college, including extensions, conversions, holiday refurbishments and new builds providing staff and student accommodation.

 

 

 

Extension to the existing boarding house to provide a 24 bedroom dormitory and wash room facility sympathetically linking onto the existing building with a 2 bedroom and 1 bedroom flat at ground floor for staff accommodation.

 

Traditional foundations block and beam ground floor, concrete plank first floor and precast concrete stairs traditional masonry walls with facing brick, purpose made timber joinery, attic truss roof providing storage facilities and a plant room for the new building. Also new 2 storey extension to provide a new emergency escape stairs for the existing building, purpose made metal stairs, bespoke Douglas fir joinery and cladding with a lead roll roof.

A new two storey glazed link between the main school building and an existing annexe, new infill extension to the annexe and full refurbishment of the existing building to provide more dormitory accommodation. Steel framework to the roof link to provide an open space for ease of circulation, a standing seam zinc cladding roof system to the new extensions and re-slate existing roofs. At first floor new bridge constructed from one building to the other with glazed balustrading and metal spiral staircase. New pedestrian block paved courtyard created to complete the project.

New atrium, common room and computer room created to this existing listed building with a one bedroom staff flat and additional student accommodation at first floor, the main building is traditional masonry with facing brick outer skin, block and beam ground floor and concrete plank first floor with truss roof and clay tiles, install flat roofs with Sarnafil warm roof system insulation cut to falls. Main atrium bespoke steel frame creating a pyramid with zinc roof covering and zinc wall panels. Purpose made Douglas fir joinery screens and underfloor heating system. New spiral staircase to replace existing, paving slab paths, brick retaining walls to overcome level differences around the building.

This new canoe storage building has been built on the flood plain of the river Stort with driven pile foundations, ground beams and reinforced concrete slab. Steel frame portal building with timber frame perlins and infill wall panels clad with cedar tongue and groove boarding to the walls and a profile metal sheet roof system. Roller shutter metal doors provide full access to the 100+ canoes store within.

The barn was underpinned and all the external walls and the roof stripped to increase the insulation values of the property to meet building regulation requirements.
